Task Pane Cleaner
Task pane clutter got you down? Not sure how to handle Expression Web's myriad task panes? Well, have no fear! The Task Pane Cleaner button hides all open task panes with a single click. Click it again and POOF! - they're all back. Easy as pie. And everyone likes pie.
- Tip: After hiding your task panes, use Expression Web's Folders view (available on the Web Site tab) to open and work with your pages.
- Tip: If you open another instance of Expression Web while the first one has a "clean" workspace, clicking the Hide/Show Task Pane button doesn't do much (since it can't hide task panes that aren't visible). So do the following: Click Task Panes > Reset Workspace Layout and then click the Hide/Show Task Pane button.
Note: Hiding and showing task panes is only available with the Expression Web version of the toolbar and not the FrontPage one.
Time Tracker
Keep track of time spent on projects with this integrated Timer tool. Great for all you professional consultants out there.
- When the Timer is on its button stays in the down state. When stopped or reset, it reverts back to its up state. This provides a visual cue that you're tracking your time.
- The Add to Time Log button saves data to your time_log.txt file, which is located in your Documents folder (Windows Vista) or My Documents folder (Windows XP).
- The time_log.txt file is a tab-delimited text file that you can easily import into Microsoft Excel for further analysis.
Notes Window
Jot down ideas, store content, make to-do lists or write down your deepest, darkest secrets. It's OK, nobody's watching.
- Closing the Notes window automatically saves any changes.
- The Notes window is modeless, so you can keep it on the screen while you work.
- Notes content is located in your Documents folder (Windows Vista) or My Documents folder (Windows XP) and named Note 1.txt, Note 2.txt, Note 3.txt, etc.
Close without Saving
Close a page without saving it first and avoid that annoying dialog asking you if you really want to close it. You'll be amazed at how much you'll use this simple but oh-so useful button.
